About the artist:
Lintre was born in 1939 at San Miguel de Avevitas, Cuba. She was born to a low means family, therefore her childhood was dedicated to taking care of her four siblings instead of going to school so her mother could go out to work. As a result, Lintre is unable to read and is an autodidact regarding her art work. her art works are enriched by her modesty, innocence and fantasy world.
At first, Lintre worked with clay and mach and later on began painting. Lintre loves to create, she would work on 10-15 paintings at the same time till the point where she’s unable to create just one piece. Lintre favorites painting subjects are Indigenous people, skulls, black women, virgins, animals and “space beings” as she calls them.
Lintre first exhibition of her work was at 1993 at the first City Hall, where she obtained a special mention for 4 paintings presented for the joint flight Sevilla-Camaguey. since then she showcased at many exhibitions, in them a personal exhibit at the hall of Plastic Arts named “Lists of Spirits” and on group exhibitions at Naive art conventions. Lintre receives great acknowledgement from the Latin art community and especially from her home town for all her work and accomplishment, on 1997 she was honored by the “Ignacio Agramonte” University of Camaguey and even received a personal room exhibition in the Provincial Library Julio Antonio Mella.
